Three British Columbia Conservatives to Shift as Independents in the Legislative Assembly

The article, penned by the staff of The Canadian Press and posted on March 10, 2025, takes approximately a minute to read. It discusses a recent development in the British Columbia political scene involving three former Conservative legislators.

These legislators, namely Dallas Brodie, Jordan Kealy, and Tara Armstrong, have decided to renounce their party affiliations and will now be representing their constituencies as Independent members in the provincial legislature.

Brodie was expelled from the Conservative party due to her controversial remarks regarding residential schools. Kealy and Armstrong, on the other hand, willingly chose to leave the party, expressing their dissatisfaction with their leader, John Rustad. They stated that Rustad has strayed from the truth, and Armstrong went as far as to accuse him of succumbing to the influence of the “woke liberals.”

In a press briefing outside the legislature, Armstrong voiced her belief that Rustad’s decision to distance himself from Brodie was a show of cowardice and a sign of corruption. She also criticized the reaction of New Democrat Premier David Eby towards Brodie, suggesting that his attack on her for speaking her truth about Kamloops was expected, but Rustad’s betrayal was a shock.
