Can Residents of Hong Kong Trim Nails on Buses? Viral Clip Leads to Cautionary Alert

Commuters in Hong Kong are being advised to avoid personal grooming activities like nail clipping on buses following an online backlash triggered by a video featuring an offending passenger.

The directive was issued by Lai Siu-chung, the head of the KMB branch of the Motor Transport Workers General Union, who warned on Sunday that uncooperative passengers might be ejected from buses.

Lai further urged passengers to steer clear of completing their make-up or engaging in similar activities while on the move, even if there’s no explicit ban in place by the transport companies.

“These personal routines should ideally be done at home before setting out. It’s important to buckle up when on the bus and follow safety instructions,” advised Lai.

He further added, “It’s crucial to avoid any non-traditional actions that might lead to injuries or inconvenience fellow passengers.”

A recent viral incident on social media highlighted the issue of improper conduct on public transport, when a male bus passenger who was asked to stop clipping his nails responded with antagonistic comments. This incident has once again shed light on the need for maintaining decorum while using public transport.
