A tragic event unfolded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this week, and it is reported that a man from Quebec, Canada was the victim. According to U.S. news sources, Sebastien Gauthier, aged 41, was the individual who lost his life in a boat explosion at the Lauderdale Marina on Monday.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed Gauthier’s passing, and local news outlets have been covering the tragedy extensively. Apart from the unfortunate loss of Gauthier, the explosion also resulted in five other individuals being transported to local hospitals, with three of them suffering from traumatic injuries.
The search for a sixth person who was reported missing following the explosion ended tragically when they were found dead. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue gave the confirmation without revealing the identity of the victim.
The incident has caught the attention of Global Affairs Canada, who acknowledged the death of a Canadian citizen in Miami. However, due to privacy considerations, they have refrained from disclosing any further information.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and the FWC has yet to respond to requests for additional details about the incident. Social media platforms have been flooded with videos showing the vessel engulfed in flames, with a thick column of black smoke rising into the sky.
