A cherished café in Montreal’s West Island, known as La Station Café, was unfortunately the subject of an unexpected burglary just days before Christmas. However, the owners have been finding strength in the support they’ve received from the local community.
La Station Café, nestled within the Beaconsfield train station, is the creation of two passionate young women who conceptualized and brought this idea to life. The café opened its doors to the public just nine months ago.
Unfortunately, earlier this month, the small enterprise fell victim to theft and vandalism. The intruders left in their wake a trail of ruined furniture and an emptied cash register.
Recalling the incident, co-owner Vanessa Pellicciotta stated, “When I walked in, I was heartbroken.” However, the outpouring of support from their loyal customers and local residents has been overwhelming. Many have shown their solidarity by bringing gifts and making donations to aid in the café’s recovery.
La Station Café was envisioned as a meeting point for the community, said co-owner Thea Borck. The support they received following the incident demonstrated that they had indeed succeeded in creating such a space, she added.
