The game wasn’t all about Oilers, though. Colorado’s Samuel Girard, who was playing his 500th career game, also had an assist on Kovalenko’s goal. This ties him with Erik Johnson for sixth in franchise history with 178 assists.
This win improves the Oilers’ recent record against the Avalanche to 3-11-1, breaking a six-game losing streak in the regular season in Colorado.
