Forum Addresses City Issues to Promote Sustainability for the Future

On Saturday, a symposium was held in the local vicinity, dedicated to addressing some of the more complex issues related to urban growth. It aimed to educate attendees about more ecological and sustainable methods of urban advancement.

Participants at the China Urban Development and Finance Forum, backed by Shunxin Construction, discussed urban growth strategies that are “innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared by all”. The aim was to foster collaboration between governmental entities, businesses, and institutes for mutual benefits.

Chairman Wang Yawei of Shunxin Construction stated his firm’s commitment to a development model that is “innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared by all”. He further emphasized their intention to encourage supply-side reform for sustainable growth. Wei Wuqun, the GM of Shunxin Construction Investment and Fund, argued that financing is an optimal solution for both urban development and the reform of state-owned businesses.

Wang Zhongjie, representing the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, used Sanya in Hainan province as an example to illustrate the concept of “urban restoration”. This aims to rejuvenate the urban landscape and the aesthetic appeal of the city, while preserving its cultural significance.

The Chinese government is promoting urbanization to alleviate the strain on large, populous cities and to stimulate growth in second- and third-tier cities and townships, following the 19th Congress of the CPC.

The forum featured two distinct workshops focusing on balancing urban growth with environmental conservation, and the role of intelligent financing in urban development. Representatives from cities that have undergone urban restoration shared their insights and experiences at these workshops.
