In a bid to discourage queue jumpers, American Airlines is introducing an audible alert system during the boarding process.
According to CNBC, the airline is implementing a technology that generates two distinct sounds when a passenger attempts to board the plane ahead of their assigned group.
As of recent times, this innovative system has been launched in over a hundred US airports, following successful trials at Albuquerque International Sunport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and Tucson International Airport.
It’s worth noting that other airlines have also tested subtler methods to manage gate congestion, which can disrupt the boarding process for passengers who have paid extra for early seating. United Airlines, for instance, sends text notifications to customers when boarding starts, features a boarding countdown on its iOS app, and uses digital displays to indicate the current boarding group.
