Veterans from British Columbia receive a tribute ‘glow-up’ to remind them they’re not forsaken

On the solemn occasion of Remembrance Day, it is crucial to pause, contemplate, and remember the brave souls who battled and sacrificed their lives for our liberty. Unfortunately, many of these selfless warriors encounter homelessness, impoverishment, and mental health issues, despite having dedicated their lives to their nation’s service.

In a heartwarming initiative, a British Columbia-based organization is stepping forward to help these heroes by providing them with a transformation. Whole Way House is a group that connects veterans with barbers, hairstylists, and fashion stylists to offer them a comprehensive makeover.

However, the organization’s mission extends beyond just a physical transformation. The purpose is to show these veterans that they are valued and cared for, and to raise awareness about the importance of providing them with effective support.

One of the veterans who participated in this year’s makeover initiative shared with Global News about how reaching out for help was a life-altering decision for him. “It’s not just about the makeover or the beautiful clothes that were gifted to me. What matters more is the effort and thought behind it,” said veteran Cameron Bishop.

He passionately encourages others in similar situations to seek help, “If you’re feeling down and all escape routes seem to be closed, you must muster the courage to walk towards the light at the end of the tunnel. The light won’t come to you.”

Whole Way House insists that their makeovers are about honoring these heroes and making them feel acknowledged, especially on a day that often triggers a whirlwind of memories.

Whether you’re considering an investment or just interested in this cause, understanding the struggles of these veterans can provide a new perspective on the true value of service and sacrifice.
