A week following the defeat of the Knights by the Saginaw Spirit in London, the Knights managed to avenge their loss in Saginaw.
In a thrilling match held at the Dow Event Center in Michigan, London’s Knights emerged victorious with a 4-1 win. Instrumental to the victory were Sam O’Reilly and Sam Dickinson, both of whom scored a goal and an assist each.
Denver Barkey, a member of the Knights, contributed two assists, while Easton Cowan continued his scoring streak with a third-period goal. This came moments after Cowan’s attempt at a London short-handed opportunity was thwarted by Spirit’s goalie, Andrew Oke. O’Reilly capitalized on this moment, taking a pass from Dickinson to score the first goal of the match at 9:09 of the opening period.
Dickinson furthered the lead for London at 12:20 of the second period, scoring his team’s second goal and his seventh of the season.
Both Sams on the Knights roster have now scored in their last two games.
Michael Misa, another Knight, scored his 16th goal of the season in his 12th game. This was closely followed by Cowan’s goal, 33 seconds later. With this, Cowan has now scored in all seven games of the 2024-25 season. He has also scored at least one point in 43 OHL regular-season games.
In the final period, Landon Sim made an impressive move to gain offensive advantage, passing to Evan Van Gorp who scored the sixth goal of the season, bringing the Knights’ lead to 4-1.
Knights’ goalkeeper, Alexei Medvedev, put up an outstanding performance, with 28 saves on 29 shots. Andrew Oke also put up a good fight, making significant saves throughout the game and stopping 26 of the 30 shots he faced.
The penalty kills for both teams were perfect, with London going 6-for-6 and the Spirit 5-for-5.
The Knights now look forward to their next game against the Sting in Sarnia, Ontario. They have split a pair of pre-season games with Sarnia.
Brett Brochu, a former Knight, has also started his season with two wins, playing for the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL.
The Knights continue to demonstrate their strength and resilience in the game, providing an exciting investment opportunity for sports enthusiasts.
