Sony has recently launched a corrective update to address a firmware issue that was causing severe visual disruptions and other problems in games such as ‘Final Fantasy 16’. This information was confirmed by the game’s publisher, Square Enix, via the official ‘Final Fantasy 16’ X (previously known as Twitter) account, announcing that PlayStation 5 users can now access this minor update.
Due to a plethora of crashes and graphic anomalies on the PS5 version of ‘Final Fantasy 16’, Sony Interactive Entertainment has rolled out a new system update. The company encourages users to download and install this latest update. Furthermore, Square Enix has pledged to continue investigating the technical issues alongside Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Sony, on the other hand, has not provided any additional comments about the situation other than releasing system update 24.06-10.01.00. The official patch notes simply state that “system software performance and stability have been enhanced”.
While some PlayStation 5 users reported experiencing issues in other games such as ‘Death Stranding: Director’s Cut’ and ‘No Man’s Sky’, Square Enix is the only studio that has publicly acknowledged these issues in relation to this specific update. They stated that following the recent release of the PlayStation system update, there have been reports of the game crashing and graphical complications. Square Enix is actively collaborating with Sony Interactive Entertainment to investigate these problems.
The glitches originated from last week’s PS5 system update 24.06-10.00.00, which introduced the Welcome Hub to the console’s home screen, enhancing customization options, party share, and beta features like personalized 3D audio profiles and adaptive controller charging for PS5 Slim users. A notable incident involved a ‘Final Fantasy 16’ player witnessing their game environment, quite literally, glitch out of existence. Given the number of players encountering these issues, the game’s Reddit community assembled a thread to organize a response.
Digital Trends, the publisher, has provided an image showcasing the protagonist of ‘Final Fantasy 16’ in front of two demon summons as a visual accompaniment to this report.
