Experience firsthand: The Xiaomi 15 Ultra boasts an impressive 200-megapixel periscope camera.

Xiaomi has revealed its latest addition to their high-end smartphone range geared towards photo enthusiasts – the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This new model was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, and we had the chance to test it out before the official launch. Undoubtedly, the camera capabilities of this phone are unparalleled.

The Xiaomi Ultra series is renowned for pushing the boundaries, especially with its impressive camera features. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is no exception, boasting a quad-camera setup including a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with up to 4.3x optical zoom. Alongside this, the device features three 50-megapixel cameras: a main wide camera with an adaptable f/1.6 – f/4.0 aperture, a f/1.7 telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and a f/1.8 ultrawide lens. A 32-megapixel, f/2.0 wide selfie camera graces the front of the phone.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra offers more than just an exceptional camera system. This 2025 flagship phone comes equipped with a 6.73-inch, AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and offers 12-16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to a whopping 1,024GB.

The device is backed by a 5,410mAh battery that supports 90W wired, 80W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Other notable features include stereo speakers, 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res Wireless audio, a fingerprint scanner, and two-way satellite communication. The phone is dust and water-resistant up to IP68 standards.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra comes in three color options: white, black, or a striking silver-chrome combination. The phone runs on Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS and has Google’s Gemini integrated for AI-related tasks.

One of the most impressive features of this phone is its camera capabilities. Although we didn’t have enough time for a thorough test, the results were impressive even at high magnifications. Xiaomi claims that the two telephoto sensors can produce lossless quality photos at up to 8.6x magnification, but we found that even at 10x or 20x zoom, the photo quality remained high.

However, the phone’s top-notch features come with a slight downside – its size. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is quite a hefty phone, weighing in at 229 grams for the Silver Chrome variant (other colors are slightly lighter at 226 grams).

In addition to launching the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the company also released the Xiaomi 15 in Europe. This model, which was first released in China last year, features a triple 50-megapixel camera system and is available in black, white, green, and an eye-catching Liquid Silver.

The Xiaomi 15 sports a 6.36-inch, AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12GB of RAM, 256/512GB of storage, and a 5,240mAh battery.

In conclusion, with the launch of Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi 15, the company continues to push the envelope in the realm of mobile photography, offering devices that cater to both everyday users and photography enthusiasts.
