In a residential property within Tuen Mun district of Hong Kong, an elderly individual was discovered dead, with his mentally challenged son safe alongside him, as per official police reports.
Security staff patrolling the area became aware of the situation at around 4pm on a recent Thursday, as a pungent smell was emanating from the apartment located at the Butterfly Estate’s Tip Ying House, according to a police representative.
Emergency personnel had to force entry into the said property, where they found the lifeless body of a 78-year-old gentleman. Death was confirmed on site.
The dead man’s 44-year-old son was also found in the apartment. Although he seemed to be in a mentally unstable condition, he showed no signs of physical harm. The son, who shared living quarters with his father, was immediately transported to the Tuen Mun Hospital for additional assessment and necessary medical intervention.
Based on early investigations, the police suggest the father may have passed away one or two days prior to the discovery. Their sources indicate there were no signs of any suspicious activity surrounding the death.
