Trump Concludes Legal Dispute Regarding Twitter Suspension

The legal battle between former U.S. President Donald Trump and the entity once called Twitter seems to have reached its conclusion.

Trump initiated a lawsuit against the renowned social media giant following his ban that occurred after the infamous U.S Capitol siege on January 6, 2021, orchestrated by his followers. Despite a federal judge ruling in favor of the social media platform and dismissing the case in 2022, Trump’s legal team persisted with an appeal.

Following the court’s decision, Twitter, now operating under the name X, saw a change in ownership. Elon Musk, a prominent supporter of Trump, acquired the platform and subsequently reinstated Trump’s account. This led to other social media networks like Facebook also reactivating Trump’s accounts, even though Trump’s major social media activities occur on Truth Social, a platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group.

According to legal documents, all involved parties have requested the court to discard the case. The documents do not disclose specific details about an agreement between Trump and X, only stating that each side will cover their own expenses.

Earlier this year, Meta decided to pay a hefty amount of $25 million to settle a similar lawsuit following Trump’s ban from Instagram and Facebook.
