It’s a common scenario, encountering Bitcoin enthusiasts — or “plebs” as they are sometimes known — who are grappling with the decision to stick with their traditional “fiat job” or to immerse themselves more deeply into the Bitcoin industry.
I typically advise them to begin by integrating Bitcoin into their existing career. However, until recently, I didn’t have a concrete example to illustrate this concept.
Enter Rob Shaw, an osteopath from Essex, UK, conveniently located near London. When his clients are ready to settle their accounts, he provides them with the option of paying in either British pounds or Bitcoin via a Musqet PoS device.
Accepted our first Bitcoin payment using a @Musqet_Bitcoin POS terminal. This gadget not only minimizes traditional payment costs but also facilitates Bitcoin transactions. Find out more on this @Princey21M podcast. #Bitcoin 👇🏻 pic.twitter.com/VHBa4mmERM

(Just to clarify, he doesn’t delve into the intricacies of Bitcoin technology or Austrian economics while doing this.)
Rob confided that occasionally, a client will exhibit surprise when offered the Bitcoin payment option. However, most simply choose their preferred method of payment and continue with the transaction.
Thanks to Rob’s initiative, two of his clients now regularly pay in Bitcoin, and his practice serves as an introduction to the cryptocurrency for others who are yet to adopt it as a form of payment.
In essence, Rob is a facilitator for Bitcoin adoption.
(Interestingly, it was an organization dubbed Bridge 2 Bitcoin that introduced Rob to the potential of Bitcoin as a payment medium for his practice.)
Rob is subtly acquainting people with Bitcoin, creating an opportunity for them to step into the world of cryptocurrency.

Some may refer to this as “orange-pilling” (a term I’m not particularly fond of due to its persuasive connotations). I would argue that this is a more refined way of introducing Bitcoin to people. By offering it as an official payment option for professional services, Bitcoin gains legitimacy, prompting those unfamiliar with it to perceive it differently.
If professionals worldwide adopted this strategy, it would significantly accelerate the rate of Bitcoin adoption.
So, before you contemplate abandoning your current job to plunge headfirst into the Bitcoin industry, consider becoming a facilitator for Bitcoin by integrating it into your existing profession.
Follow in Rob’s footsteps – become a facilitator for Bitcoin!
