A tragic incident unfolded on a Shanghai freeway leading to the airport last Friday, as a tour guide from Hong Kong lost his life in a coach accident caused by harsh weather conditions. The unfortunate event occurred while the coach carried sixteen other members of the tour group, all of whom miraculously survived the crash without harm, as reported by Miramar Travel, the tour organizing company.
However, the Shanghai police provided a slightly different account, citing minor abrasions sustained by two of the passengers. The authorities confirmed the adverse weather conditions at the time of the accident in an announcement on Weibo, their social media platform.
They explained that the incident was a result of slippery roads due to the rainfall, which led to the coach crashing near Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Around 2.20 pm, the tour coach, en route to the airport, encountered an unfortunate accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle in the rainy weather, subsequently crashing into the road barrier.
This mishap occurred on a stretch of the S32 highway, according to the Shanghai police. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety and precaution when traveling, particularly in unfavorable weather conditions. It also highlights the need for robust emergency response systems, a crucial aspect for anyone considering investment in the travel and tourism sector.
