In a recent development, Nothing’s March 4 event is expected to witness the launch of two new smartphones, as per an article by Android Headlines. The report suggests that this is in accordance with the previous rumors, except for a noticeable change in Nothing’s phone-naming scheme. The upcoming Nothing Phone 3a is expected to be accompanied by a Nothing Phone 3a Pro.
In the past, Nothing had a tradition of naming the larger phone in its A-series as the Nothing Phone 2a Plus, but this might not be the case with the new lineup. The report also hints that only these two devices will be introduced, raising questions about the fate of the regular Nothing Phone 3. It’s noteworthy that the A-series phones are considered to be more budget-friendly in Nothing’s lineup, so their debut prior to the flagship Phone 3 is an interesting strategy.
Following the Android Headlines story, Nothing released a quarterly update via a YouTube video, confirming the March 4 launch of the “Phone 3a series”. The team also revealed that the phones will feature significant camera upgrades and materials will be altered for an upgraded design. By the end of the video, Nothing’s co-founder and head of marketing, Akis Evangelidis, clarified that the Phone 3 will be launched later this year, terming it a “milestone” for the company. This implies that the flagship Phone 3 will not be part of the March 4 event.
As per the report’s speculation, both phones will be available in two different colors. The Phone 3a will be available in black and white, while the 3a Pro will be offered in black and grey – colors that Nothing has previously used. Both the Phone 3a and the 3a Pro will come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. However, a standard model of the Phone 3a could also be launched with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s speculated that this basic model might not be available for global sale but restricted to certain markets.
A leaked image allegedly showing the back of the Nothing Phone 3a has also surfaced online. The device, enclosed in a protective plastic case, reveals the cameras at the top. The design indicates the presence of a third telephoto camera on the back, in addition to the main and wide-angle camera, aligning with the teaser posted by Nothing on social media, which shows a vertically stacked triple-camera setup.
We’ll have to wait until March 4 to verify these details about the new Nothing A-series phones, and the launch of the Phone 3 will follow at a later date.
