NEW YORK (Reuters) – A representative from Bank of America confirmed on Friday that the institution will be in discussions with the Trump administration and Congress regarding certain regulations. The bank stated these regulations could potentially compel them to sever banking ties with certain clients.
On Thursday, President Trump specifically referred to JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America for their debanking practices. Both financial institutions, however, refuted these claims, stating that their banking decisions are not influenced by political considerations.
“We view this matter with utmost seriousness”, stated a Bank of America representative. “In relation to the comprehensive governmental regulations that occasionally necessitate the termination of relationships, we will be initiating dialogues with the administration and Congress.”
