The city of Hong Kong experienced its chilliest winter morning this season, with the temperature dropping to 11 degrees Celsius (51.8 Fahrenheit) on a recent Sunday.
Alerts related to frosty weather have been issued for the past couple of days, as the Hong Kong Observatory anticipates a mild escalation in the city’s temperatures in the upcoming days.
On this particularly frosty Sunday at 7:30 am, the city’s temperature was recorded at 11 degrees, with some areas reporting temperatures even below 7 degrees. Tai Mo Shan, a region in Hong Kong, faced the most bitter cold with the temperature falling to a mere 2.7 degrees.
The weather expert highlighted, “The mornings are going to be cold, particularly in the inland areas where there will be a significant difference in day and night temperatures.”
In terms of weather patterns, the winter monsoon will be succeeded by an easterly airstream at the dawn of this week, leading to more cloud cover and a slight increase in temperatures along the Guangdong coast.”
The range of temperature on that Sunday was expected to be between 11 to 18 degrees. In the week that follows, the temperatures are set to rise, with the forecast predicting a range of 13 to 20 degrees.
