Amit Yoran, Chief Executive Officer of Tenable, Passes Away

The cybersecurity industry mourns the loss of a stalwart figure, Amit Yoran, who succumbed to cancer last Friday.

Yoran, who held the positions of CEO and Chairman at Tenable, a leading cybersecurity firm, has left a significant impact on the industry. The news of his demise was released by Tenable. Prior to his role at Tenable, he had an illustrious career, serving as the president of RSA, the founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel.

Yoran’s departure was felt deeply at Tenable, with the company’s lead independent director, Art Coviello, describing him as “an exceptional leader, teammate, and companion.”

Coviello praised Yoran’s passion for cybersecurity and his strategic insights, highlighting his unique ability to motivate those around him. He credited Yoran’s influence for shaping Tenable’s mission and corporate culture, stating that his legacy would continue to guide the company’s future direction.

The company also revealed that Yoran had been on medical leave since December 5, and in his absence, CFO Steve Vintz and COO Mark Thurmond had been appointed as interim co-CEOs. They will carry on in their roles until a new, permanent CEO is appointed.
