Indian equities experienced an upturn at the end of trading; Nifty 50 rose by 0.48%, as reported by Investing.com

After Wednesday’s trading session ended, Indian stocks showcased an upward trend, led by encouraging performances in select sectors.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) saw a positive shift with an increment of 0.48%, while another index saw a slightly higher rise of 0.56%.

In the spotlight were leading companies such as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Maruti Suzuki witnessed a hike of 3.22%, closing at 11,208.30. Mahindra & Mahindra and Larsen & Toubro saw an increase of 2.49% and 1.66%, ending at 3,082.00 and 3,667.50 respectively.

On the flip side, Hindalco Industries Ltd, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd experienced a dip in their stock prices. Hindalco Industries dropped by 1.58% to 592.95, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories by 1.40% to 1,369.00 and Adani Ports by 1.01% to 1,218.70.

The BSE Sensex 30 also had its set of top performers, with Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Larsen & Toubro leading again. Maruti Suzuki rose by 3.02% to 11,195.00, Mahindra & Mahindra by 2.31% to 3,076.45 and Larsen & Toubro by 1.93% to 3,677.60.

However, Tata Steel, Wipro, and HCL Technologies didn’t fare as well, with Tata Steel down by 0.80% to 137.00, Wipro by 0.40% to 300.80 and HCL Technologies by 0.34% to 1,911.80.

In the overall scenario, the day saw more stocks rising than falling on the Indian National Stock Exchange, with a ratio of 1828 to 694. The Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed a similar trend with 2598 stocks rising compared to 1205 that declined.

In terms of volatility, the Nifty 50 options saw a decrease of 0.07% to 14.44.

In the commodities market, Gold Futures for February saw a slight drop, while Crude oil for February fell by 0.19% to $71.72 a barrel. Conversely, the March Brent oil contract climbed by 1.16% to $74.42 a barrel.

Currency-wise the USD/INR pair was up by 0.33% to 85.79, while EUR/INR fell by 0.38% to 88.97. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw an increase, up by 0.32% at 108.28.
