NATO’s Rutte Criticizes Zelenskyy for His Remarks Against Germany’s Scholz, According to POLITICO

Rutte expressed his support for providing Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles, in contrast to Scholz’s stance. He mentioned that such support is crucial for Ukraine and that he wouldn’t put any restrictions on the usage of these missiles. However, he emphasized that it’s not his call to decide the exact nature of the support from their allies.

Zelenskyy, on the other hand, publicly voiced his criticism of Scholz in November for engaging in a telephonic conversation with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin. According to Zelenskyy, this call opened a metaphorical “Pandora’s box”, and it compromised the efforts to ostracize Moscow.

While addressing the European Parliament on the thousandth day of the full-fledged Russian invasion of Ukraine on Nov. 19, Zelenskyy once again criticized Scholz, specifically pointing out the phone call.

Zelenskyy pointed out the contrasting priorities, stating that while certain European leaders had their focus on elections or similar aspects at the expense of Ukraine, Putin is single-mindedly focused on winning the war. He emphasized that Putin wouldn’t halt his efforts voluntarily.
