Glen Clark, the former Premier of British Columbia, is making a public comeback. Two years after stepping down from his prominent role as the president of the Jim Pattison Group, Clark is ready to return to the public eye.
The provincial government has confirmed that Clark will become the chairman of BC Hydro’s board of directors. He will succeed Lori Wanamaker, whose tenure concludes on December 31.
Clark’s political career came to an abrupt halt in 1999 when he was accused of accepting free renovations from an individual seeking approval for a casino license. He resigned from his post as Premier amidst these allegations. However, Clark was later acquitted of the breach of trust charges in a 2002 trial.
The government has expressed confidence in Clark’s leadership abilities, citing his extensive corporate relations and resource development experience. This includes his time as Premier and over two decades at the helm of the Jim Pattison Group.
In addition to Clark, three other individuals have been appointed to the board. These include Merran Smith, the President of New Economy Canada, Brynn Bourke, the Executive Director of the BC Buildings Trades, and Don Kayne, the President of Canfor Corp.
