AI Tool Grok Now Available for Free Use
Users of the popular AI platform, X, can now enjoy free access to their AI chatbot, Grok. The platform now offers users the ability to enjoy 10 free prompts every two hours, without the necessity for a X Premium subscription.
This change was highlighted by The Verge, quoting several X users who observed the update. The company first started testing a complimentary version of Grok in select countries, including New Zealand, as reported by TechCrunch last month.
Alongside this, users can now generate 10 images for free within two hours. However, there is a limit to this – users can only analyze up to 3 images per day. For additional usage, a subscription is required, as stated in a recent X post.
This new structure aligns Grok’s model with the freemium models of similar AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude. Prior to this, Grok was exclusively available to X’s premium subscribers, with costs beginning at $8 monthly or $84 annually.
The AI firm backing Grok, known as xAI, recently secured an impressive $6 billion in funding according to an SEC filing. This substantial financial boost brings their total funding up to a remarkable $12 billion.
These changes bring about a more accessible use of AI technology for X users, potentially attracting more users and investors to the platform.
