Jets from Winnipeg Break Loss Series with an Overtime Victory over Sabres – Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Jets have finally snapped their four-match losing streak with an exhilarating 3-2 victory over the Sabres in Buffalo. The victory takes the Jets’ season record to 19-8, providing a much-needed morale boost to the team.

The overtime win was secured by game-changer Adam Lowry, while goalie Connor Hellebuyck made 28 crucial saves to help the Jets break their slump. Despite trailing for a large part of the third period, Lowry scored the deciding goal with only 61 seconds left in overtime.

Expressing satisfaction over the hard-fought win, Lowry said, “Despite a slow start and an early goal conceded, our team’s resilience and determination to bounce back were commendable. We were trailing 2-1 after the first period, but our response was excellent, especially after a disappointing performance against St. Louis.”

He added, “It’s been a challenging week, but this win has brought some relief. We hope to carry this positive momentum into our next game against Chicago.”

This season, the Jets have remained undefeated in overtime, winning all four matches that have stretched into the additional period. The team’s other scorers in the Buffalo match were Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor, with the latter ending a six-game goalless run.

Despite being under pressure in the third period, the Jets managed to force the match into overtime and clinched the win. The team’s 31-30 edge in shots also marked the first time in seven games that they outscored their opponents.

The club’s head coach, Scott Arniel, expressed satisfaction over the team’s performance, saying, “Despite being on the back foot in the previous four games, I’m pleased with our fighting spirit and our improved performance in special teams. We managed to hold on in the third period, unlike our previous games, and although it took more than 60 minutes, the effort was commendable.”

The Jets are now looking forward to continuing their winning momentum when they face off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. The match is set to kick off shortly after 3 p.m., following a pregame show beginning at 1 p.m. on 680 CJOB.
