The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) recently apprehended a member of the notorious motorcycle gang, Hells Angels, in Red Deer. The 55-year-old biker, affiliated with the Nomads chapter of the Hells Angels, was reportedly in possession of a handgun and multiple magazines for the weapon at the time of his arrest on November 13.
In addition to the biker, two individuals associated with the Syndicate Motorcycle Club were also arrested. ALERT suggests that these individuals were engaged in an assault at the time of their arrest. Interestingly, the biker was under explicit orders not to possess firearms, further complicating his legal situation. ALERT officials allege that he attempted to hide the handgun in a vehicle when he was intercepted by the police.
In a statement following the arrest, ALERT Inspector Angela Kemp took an opportunity to highlight the consistent criminal involvement of the Hells Angels, despite their attempts to present themselves as mere motorcycle enthusiasts. She emphasized the threatening presence they maintain in our communities.
The charges against the apprehended individuals include assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with a release order. A bail hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
This incident underscores the risks and potential legal implications associated with involvement in criminal organizations such as the Hells Angels. It serves as a stark reminder to those who may be considering investing time or resources in such entities. The actions of law enforcement officials like those in ALERT demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safety and order in our communities.
