President-elect Donald Trump is in the process of finalizing his cabinet picks as he prepares for his second term. A video covering this development is now available for viewing.
In other news, the White House confirmed on Monday that President Biden and the First Lady, Jill Biden, are set to attend President-elect Trump’s inauguration on January 20. This comes as no surprise as President Biden had previously stated he would attend the inauguration ceremony, regardless of who emerged victoriously from the election.
Notably, Trump had chosen not to attend Biden’s inauguration in 2021, which took place two weeks after Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol prior to the certification of election results. This made Trump the first president in over 150 years to abstain from attending his successor’s inauguration.
White House spokesperson, Andrew Bates, confirmed on Monday aboard Air Force One that both President Biden and the First Lady will be attending the inauguration. Bates quoted President Biden, saying that he had promised to attend the inauguration of the election’s winner. By doing so, he and the First Lady would be honoring their commitment to democratic values and the will of the people. This move also aims to ensure an orderly and effective transition.
Meanwhile, Jeff Zients, the White House Chief of Staff, has held several meetings with incoming White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles. However, the President-elect’s team is yet to sign critical agreements with the Biden administration to officially move the transition process forward. This has stalled the security clearance process. It was also confirmed that the Trump transition team has not entered into agreements with either the White House or the General Services Administration.
