New Honorary Colonel Assigned to 426 Squadron

Gregory Parker, a native of Trenton, Ontario, is the newly appointed honorary colonel of the 426 (Transport) Training Squadron. The announcement was made at a ceremony at the 8 Wing/Canadian Forces Base Trenton. The event held on November 4 also marked the farewell of Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, who had served in the position since December 2017.

Parker’s selection is backed by his impressive credentials and leadership roles in the community. The University of Ottawa law graduate has previously served as the director for Quinte Healthcare Corporation, president of the Kiwanis Club of Trenton, and chair of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

Raised in the Quinte West area, Parker expressed his deep understanding and appreciation of the 8 Wing and its influence on local communities. He voiced his pride and privilege to be part of the 8 Wing and the Royal Canadian Air Force. Lt.-Col. Gregor Jackson, the commanding officer of the squadron, lauded Parker as the perfect choice to support squadron members and their families given his standing in the local community.

The honorary colonel role acts as an advisor and liaison between the squadron and the community. The squadron is responsible for advanced training of aircrew and technicians supporting Canadian Armed Forces operations.

The 426 Squadron operates from one of the world’s most advanced training facilities at 8 Wing Trenton. They prepare personnel for the CC-130 Hercules and CC-150 Polaris aircraft.
