I appreciate Trump’s Support for Bitcoin

Title: Embracing Bitcoin: A Fresh Perspective on Trump’s Commitment to Cryptocurrency

A decade ago, I co-founded BTC Media, driven by my enthusiasm for the potential of Bitcoin. Today, on the verge of another election, I feel the need to express my viewpoint on the topic through this inaugural opinion piece for Bitcoin Magazine. This comes after our Editor-in-chief, Aaron Van Wirdum, made his thoughts known with his article, “Trump Does Not Give a Damn About Bitcoin,” and extended an invitation for alternative perspectives.

BTC Media was established with the aim of promoting the widespread adoption and understanding of Bitcoin. From day one, our objective has been to enlighten the masses about Bitcoin. We have made significant progress in this regard. I am of the opinion that Trump, the incumbent President, could expedite the public’s acceptance of Bitcoin, with his pro-Bitcoin advisors. He has the potential to establish the most Bitcoin-friendly economy globally, and could also reduce Ross Ulbricht’s sentence, which would be a formidable combination.

Aaron’s article expressed doubt about Trump’s commitment to Bitcoin, a viewpoint I don’t share. On the contrary, I firmly believe in Trump’s expressed support for Bitcoin. His close associates include numerous Bitcoin enthusiasts and individuals who have indicated their support for Bitcoin, including his children, JD Vance, Elon Musk, RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Vivek Ramaswamy, Senators Lummis, Blackburn, Hagerty, and Scott, among others.

While Trump might be new to the Bitcoin sphere, he exhibits a continual curiosity and desire to understand the future of money. A President who is open to Bitcoin and surrounds himself with pro-Bitcoin advisors and policies is a welcome change from previous administrations that have openly opposed Bitcoin.

In Aaron’s article, Trump was criticized for not conducting his own Bitcoin transaction at a campaign stop at PubKey – a Bitcoin bar in Greenwich Village. However, I was thrilled that Trump accepted an invitation from PubKey owner Thomas Pacchia to stop by during his campaign. The transaction was a gesture, facilitated by the community, and signaled a significant step towards acceptance of Bitcoin by politicians.

Some may wonder if Trump’s interest in Bitcoin is merely motivated by donations and votes. However, isn’t it irrelevant what drives us as long as we are working towards a common good? The Bitcoin community is diverse and our reasons for supporting Bitcoin are equally varied.

At the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Trump pledged that, if elected President, he would free Ross Ulbricht. The Ulbricht family needs this miracle, and Trump has promised to make it happen.

I had the privilege of meeting Trump backstage at Bitcoin 2024. I found him to be personable, funny, and genuine. I wholeheartedly welcome Trump to the Bitcoin community and appreciate his bipartisan support in our mission of promoting Bitcoin adoption.

I urge everyone to exercise their voting rights this Tuesday. Join Bitcoin Magazine and Stand with Crypto for ‘The Road to Election Day’ broadcast live from Las Vegas, this coming Tuesday, November 5, 2024, starting at 3 p.m. PST.
