Draisaitl leads the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-2 victory against the Calgary Flames, contributing a goal and two assists – Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers clinched a 4-2 victory against Calgary Flames, marking their fourth win in the last five games, with a key contribution from Leon Draisaitl. Draisaitl showed his prowess on the rink with one goal and two assists.

Reflecting on the game, Oilers’ coach Kris Knoblauch likened it to their first game in Edmonton. He praised his team’s initial robust performance but acknowledged Calgary’s increasing opportunities as the game progressed. Despite the pressure, the Oilers managed to maintain their lead, thanks to a critical penalty-kill and some successful block shots towards the end. He also acknowledged the crucial role of the power-play, which gave the Oilers their winning goal.

Other scorers for the Oilers included Zach Hyman, Jeff Skinner and Mattias Janmark. The team’s recent wins are particularly impressive considering the absence of their captain and NHL star, Connor McDavid, due to an ankle injury. Oilers’ goalie Stuart Skinner also put up an impressive performance, stopping 29 shots, playing a critical role in securing the win.

Anthony Mantha and Yegor Sharangovich were the scorers for Calgary, in a match watched by a sellout crowd of 19,289 at the Saddledome. Despite the loss, Calgary’s goaltender Dan Vladar put up a good show with 27 saves, marking his second consecutive start this season.

The Oilers’ victory ties the NHL’s Battle of Alberta 1-1 for this season, with one more game to go between the provincial rivals. The Flames had previously won 4-1 in Edmonton on October 13.

Draisaitl has been a significant player for the Oilers, especially in road games, and has stepped up in the absence of McDavid. His impressive stats showcase his consistent performance.

Next up, the Oilers are set to face the New Jersey Devils, while the Flames are starting a three-game road trip with their first game against the Montreal Canadiens.
