Police report: Inmate from New Brunswick manages breakout from Saint John prison through fence gap

Authorities in New Brunswick report that a prisoner from a correctional facility in Saint John managed to break free on Sunday morning, slipping through a fence on the premises.

The local police force identified the escapee as 44-year-old Darel Dalgleish, who they say managed to evade the correctional officers chasing him after his breakout around 9:30 a.m.

Dalgleish was being held in pretrial detention facing charges of assault and breaching of release conditions.

Patrol officers, a canine unit, and a drone are currently scouring the area in search of Dalgleish.

Last spotted, Dalgleish was clothed in light blue jail-issued scrubs with a layer of orange scrubs beneath.

The police are urging the public to report any sightings of Dalgleish or any information regarding his potential whereabouts.
