Over six decades since its initial release in 1958, Brenda Lee’s song “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, a blend of rockabilly, has become an enduring holiday favorite. Now, it’s undergoing a transformation into the Spanish language, thanks to the use of responsible artificial intelligence (AI).
On Friday, Universal declared the launch of “Noche Buena y Navidad”, a creation that leverages SoundLabs AI’s MicDrop tech to recreate Spanish lyrics based on Lee’s original version, recorded when she was just 13 years old.
Currently aged 79, Lee seems to be quite pleased with the new version. She shared, “Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve performed and recorded many tracks in various languages, but I never had the chance to record ‘Rockin’’ in Spanish, something I’ve always wanted to do.” She added, “It’s quite amazing to have this version out now and I’m thrilled to share the track with fans in a completely new light.”
With the holiday period just two months away, it’s likely that music industry leaders are envisaging an AI-inspired Christmas.
