In an announcement today, Amazon revealed plans to host its annual sales event, termed “Prime Big Deals Day,” slated for October 8-9. This follows the pattern set in the past two years, with the e-commerce titan choosing to hold this fall sales event in October.
The event will not be exclusive to the U.S., instead, it will span across several countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the U.K., and Turkey. Amazon Japan will experience the Big Deals Day later in October.
During the event, Prime Members can expect a new deal every five minutes, the company disclosed. In addition, Amazon has curated a holiday gift guide for the occasion. The online retail giant also introduced its AI shopping assistant, Rufus, to all U.S. customers earlier this year, with hopes that it will enhance the shopping experience during the event.
“Prime’s unique offering of exclusive savings events like Prime Big Deal Days, coupled with the swift, free delivery of over 300 million products across more than 35 categories throughout the year, sets Prime apart and underscores the value of membership,” stated Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Prime Worldwide.
Analysts reported that Amazon’s Prime Day, held in July, was a fruitful venture, recording an impressive $14.2 billion in sales. Adobe highlighted that 49.3% of purchases were made from a mobile device, predicting that mobile shopping will account for 53% of online sales during the upcoming holiday season.
Predictions for Amazon’s ecommerce sales in the US suggest a figure of $491.65 billion by 2024 – a growth rate of 10.5% from the previous year, according to analytics firm Emarketer. The data also indicates that Amazon remains the leading ecommerce retailer in the country, holding a 40.4% market share.
