Three years have passed since Life360’s significant $205 million purchase of Tile, a key competitor of AirTag. On Monday, Life360 unveiled a fresh line of Bluetooth trackers for lost items. The redesigned devices, available in colors such as aqua blue, green, navy blue, and pink, include multiple new features like an SOS function, an improved Bluetooth range, and more.
This product launch represents Tile’s first since its acquisition by the family tracking service Life360 in 2021. It also follows Life360’s transition to a publicly traded company.
The revamped product line includes four trackers: Tile Mate, the “universal tracker” priced at $25; Tile Pro, priced at $35, known for its impressive ring volume and extensive Bluetooth range; Tile Slim, which costs $30 and is designed to fit snugly in wallets and passport holders; and the $25 Tile Sticker, the smallest tracker that easily sticks to items like TV remotes.
All users can access the new SOS alerts for free. However, for an additional fee, Life360 members can have third-party emergency dispatchers alerted by Life360. These dispatchers will get in touch with the member and coordinate with necessary authorities such as law enforcement or emergency medical services. Three subscription options with Life360 are available: Silver at $8/month, Gold at $15/month, and Platinum at $25/month.
David Steinwedel, Life360’s senior director of product, shared with TechCrunch, “We aim to ensure the safety of our member’s families and keep them connected with their loved ones. This is our first product launch since the acquisition, and we have a strong emphasis on family safety and connections. This is why the SOS feature resonates with us. It is a unique, distinguishing feature in this lineup.”
In addition to the SOS function, the Bluetooth range for Tile Mate, Slim, and Pro has been extended. Tile Pro now has a range of up to 500 ft., an improvement from the previous model’s 400 ft. The ring volume for Tile Mate, Sticker, and Pro has also been increased.
The new color options are vibrant and appealing, likely designed to attract families who may wish to allocate specific colors to different members or items for easier identification and organization.
In 2022, Life360 integrated its service with Tile, providing Tile users access to the Life360 app and its features. This includes the ability to see the location of Tiled items on the Life360 map and ring the Tile to locate items close by. Both Life360 and Tile can ring a missing phone, even if it’s on silent. Any member of your Life360 Circle can ring the Tile and locate items nearby.
