The latest iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max by Apple sport the same initial price tag as their predecessors, however, the battery replacement cost has seen a hike. As per the iPhone’s Repair and Service website, as discovered by MacRumors, the battery replacement charge for iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max has been set at $119. This is a 20% increase compared to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, and the previous year’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, which had a battery replacement cost of $99.
This cost is applicable for replacing the battery outside the warranty period. If the battery fails within the warranty period, Apple offers a free replacement. As per Apple’s policy, a product qualifies for a no-cost battery replacement under AppleCare+ if the battery retains less than 80% of its original capacity.
The internal structure of the iPhone 16 Pro models is yet to be revealed, but Apple has disclosed that it has restructured the phone’s interiors and included larger batteries in its Pro models, which could account for the higher battery replacement cost.
For those considering an investment in Apple’s latest offering, it’s worth noting this additional cost factor. While the starting price remains the same, the elevated battery replacement cost could potentially affect long-term ownership costs. Make sure to factor this in when making your decision.
