The Silicon Valley-based start-up incubator, Y Combinator, plans on increasing its yearly cohorts from two to four, beginning in 2025, according to a recent Bloomberg report.
The president of Y Combinator, Garry Tan, shared with Bloomberg that the total number of start-ups participating in the Y Combinator program each year will remain roughly the same despite this shift. As a result, each group will be approximately half the size of previous years. Tan noted the doubling of cohorts leads to double the demo days, providing investors with more opportunities to network with start-ups.
The upcoming autumn program is scheduled to commence on September 29, shortly following the summer group’s Demo Day slated for September 25 and 26.
TechCrunch is currently seeking confirmation from Y Combinator on this matter.
